Mercedes Formula One racer Valtteri Bottas will be awarded the Bandini Trophy this year, becoming its 25th recipient.

The accolade is named after F1 and 24 Hours of Le Mans race winner Lorenzo Bandini, who tragically lost his life in an accident during the 1967 Monaco Grand Prix.

The unique and spectacular ceremony, which includes a 12km drive from Faenza to Brisighella to collect the award, this year takes place on Saturday 5 May.

Valtteri will be driving there in style, at the wheel of the Championship-winning W07 from the 2016 F1 season.

When it comes to past winners of the Bandini Trophy, Valtteri will be in good company. The likes of Michael Schumacher, Kimi Räikkönen, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel have all won the award.

Valtteri’s team-mate Lewis Hamilton took home the Bandini Trophy in 2010, and former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg won it the following year.
